Lil’ Jon and His Snaggletooth Kindred beat out The Roots for Group of the Year. I mean, I know they had a real big hit this year and will probably have more, but… I dunno, maybe it’s just me but it seems like someone out there just doesn’t get it. I was gonna say that this is another example of why hip-hop is stupid, but maybe the state of hip-hop reflects society. Maybe people would rather dance to some raunchy non-musical bullshit than groove to something that might just educate as much as it entertains. Moving along…

To be honest, I listened to La Bella Mafia about as often as I listened to Under Construction, which really doesn’t say much. But I’d have to say, even though Missy isn’t as much of a rapper as Kim, Kim really disappointed me this year. I mean, she had halfway decent beats and decent gueststars on her CD, but the CD lacked cohesiveness, creativity, progression… I could go on and on.
