Punk-Ass Channel 7

She’s a bad mamma-jamma, that Izzy B. A hurricane is no laughing matter, nor is it something we should take casually. So naturally the airwaves are packed with coverage of the storms that will wreak havoc on the DC Metro area as a result of Hurrican Isabel. Which means soaps are being pre-empted.
No. My bad. Just ABC soaps.

I don’t know what’s happening in the rest of the country, but either the local NBC and CBS stations don’t take this seriously enough, or ABC is taking this too seriously. Right now, The Young & The Restless and Days of Our Lives are framed with a newsbar, updating viewers on the haps. Yet when I turn to ABC 7, it’s just the news. No All my Children!
Well a major storm is more important than soap operas right?
Of course! But how unfair is it that the soaps I watch are the ones that aren’t airing today? As a matter of fact, the ABC affiliate in DC always overreacts and cuts off my stories. I think it’s part of a covert plot to piss me off. Someone gets shot in Kyoto and all of a sudden my shit is interrupted! How rude!
I guess since they figure ABC soaps are re-broadcast on SOAPnet, then it’s cool to interrupt the daytime run. Umm, hello? Not all of us have cable TV, and I only know of a few lucky people that actually have SOAPnet and they don’t even watch! So what am ‘posed to do? Read some crappy update on an equally crappy soap site?
By the way, Isabel hasn’t made a peep yet and according to the news, she won’t until probably later today, as in PRIMETIME!

Don’t worry, sweets. I’ll give you a blow-by-blow account. And as far as the crappy soap sites…can we say SoapBloggers?

Feel free to take all of the hurricane coverage we’re getting in Chapel Hill. What with Hurricanes Fran and Floyd having raped NC pretty badly within the past 6 years, our local affiliates don’t play. They’ve been salivating over Isabel since I got home; early, of course, because UNC (where I’m currently working) shut down at 2pm.
    What was my point again?
Anyway, you probably won’t get the full force of Isabel until after midnight, or later. At least you don’t have to worry about tornadoes.
